Government in Dialogue with EA countries on human trafficking

The Coordinator of the Ugandan National Anti-Human Trafficking Taskforce says government is in dialogue with east African countries in order to curb arrests of victims of human trafficking.

This follows the arrest of 18 Ugandan women at Langata  women’s maximum prison in Nairobi Kenya after failing to pay 2.1 M Ugandan shs {60000} Kenyan shs a fine, for not following immigration laws.

The women are believed to be recruited by agents through their proxies in Uganda and taken to Oman through Kenya.

Now the Coordinator of the Ugandan National Counter Human Trafficking Taskforce Moses Binoga says they are aware and are embarking on increasing awareness to the people to understand the risks of travelling without right full procedures.

Binoga also says they are in talks with other east African countries over this issue to  ensure harmonised ways of identifying potential victims of human  trafficking  without criminalizing them in accordance with international  laws of human trafficking.
