High Court Judge Margret Oguli Oumo will on Friday this week give her ruling on whether or not to add Makerere University as a party to a case filed by a Rubaga South voter against his area MP Kato Lubwama.
Habib Buwembo, through his lawyer Isaac Semakadde wants Makerere University added as a third respondent to Kato Lubwama and the Electoral Commission on an application he filed seeking permission to file an out of time election petition seeking to eject Lubwama from parliament for lack of requisite academic qualifications.
Buwembo wants Makerere University to avail him with policies regarding its mature age entry examinations so as to establish whether Kato Lubwama sat and passed these exams before being admitted for a Diploma in Music, Dance and Drama in 1992.
The voter also accuses the University of failing to produce the Diploma Certificate it awarded to Kato Lubwama.
According to counsel Ssemakadde, these documents cannot be accessed anywhere since even on nomination day, Kato Lubwama presented to the District returning officer a letter titled “To Whom it May Concern ” written by the University’s academic registrar on 15th October 2015.
