Aciro Lucy Otim, an independent candidate has bounced back as the Aruu County North Member of Parliament after she won yesterday’s by-election

She was last evening declared winner by the Pader District Returning Officer Joseph Omona after getting sixteen thousand six hundred eight votes against her closest challenger NRM’s James Kidega who got 8,450 votes.

The total number of votes cast for candidates was 25,804.

The Democratic Party’s Bernard Ology came 3rd with 411 votes.

The others in the race were Henry Komakech, David Ojera and Justin Oryema, all of them independents.

The by election was organized after the Court of Appeal confirmed the High Court decision which nullified the election of Lucy Aciro on grounds that it did not comply with electoral laws.

The exercise was however marred by violence from both the ruling NRM and the opposition Forum for Democratic Change with four people critically injured and admitted at Atanga Health III for medical treatment
