Addressing journalists at city hall, the acting director revenue collection, Fred Andema says that the commercial transport service providers misinterpreted the presidential directive issued in July on the harmonization of taxation of the informal sector making the authority to operate in deficit of 4 billion shillings.

He says while the presidential directive is being looked at, commercial transport operators must continue paying their dues as directed by cabinet.

He has given all commercial road users including taxi operators, buses, Lorries, pick-up trucks and special hire operators up to 1st November to settle all their dues failure of which they will be arrested and their vehicles impounded.
