Koboko MPs call for peace during age limit debate

The Member of Parliament for Koboko Evelyne Anite has asked voters to be peaceful when they return to consult them on lifting of the presidential age limit following the tabling of the bill for the first reading two weeks ago.

Koboko, a stronghold for NRM especially has in the recent past seen several demonstrations staged by opposition leaders at who are against the age limit campaign.

Releasing the strategy on lifting of the age limit Anite told residents at Nyangilia primary school ground yesterday that she would go village to village mobilizing for support, urging voters to sign a petition.

While the District Woman MP Margaret Babadiri, said they were returning to consult because power belongs to the people, calling for patience with those who hold dissenting views in order to maintain peace.

During the Independence Day celebrations, a group of opposition youth staged peaceful demonstrations against the lifting of the presidential age limit.
