21 of the 23 legislators from the region have this afternoon gathered at parliament where they announced their decision to support Kadaga.

The group was led by Oyam District Woman MP Betty Amongi and newly elected Dokolo North MP Paul AmoruOmiat.

The move comes as the ruling NRM’s National Executive Committee sits today to choose candidates to contest for race for Speaker and Deputy Speaker for the 10th parliament.

The Speaker’s slot is a two horse race between Rebecca Kadaga and her current deputy Jacob Oulanya.

Meanwhile the race for deputy speakership has attracted 9 people four of whom are independents.

However, the Leader of Opposition Wafula Oguttu says they are yet to name candidates for the contest.
