A local council chairman has hacked his wife over Shs200.
30 year- old Nancy Akello, a resident of Lacinga village in Pader district is nursing wounds in hospital.
50 year old Santo Okello is said to have returned home drunk and demanding for Shs 200, so he could go back to the bar for some more drinks.
However, after his wife refused to give him the money a physical fight ensued prompting him to hit her with an axe on the left eye leaving her with a deep cut.

“He was at the drinking joint all day and when he returned
home, he demanded for Shs 200, which I refused to give him and he instead started fighting me,” Akello said.
The Officer in Charge of Pader central police station, Mr.Romeo Onek Ojara, confirmed the incident saying that Okello is in police custody pending further investigations.
“He will be charged with attempted murder, since he used the dangerous weapon and assault at the same time,” said Mr. Ojara.
Mr Okello has however asked for forgiveness, saying that he acted under the influence of alcohol.
Records at Pader Central police indicate that at least one case of domestic violence is reported related to domestic violence.
