Kasango who had been incarcerated since 2018, over various controversial cases, died last evening before being transferred to Mulago hospital.

The law society president Phiona Wall describes the late Kasango as a hardworking person who groomed many young lawyers in Uganda.

She is saddened that Kasango’s persistent requests to be taken for specialized treatment were not considered by prison authorities.

The Uganda Prisons Services Spokesperson Frank Baine says they await a post-mortem report from Mulago hospital.

The Anti-Corruption court in 2018 convicted Kasango for embezzlement of over Shs.15 billion, together with former ministry of public service staff.

He was serving a 16 year jail term.
