The earl, David Armstrong-Jones, has revealed that his 26-year-old marriage with his wife Serena has come to an end.
The couple has two children, Viscount Linley, Charles Armstrong-Jones and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones.
According to a spokesman for the Snowdon, the couple agreed to put an end to their marriage and asked the public to respect their privacy.
“The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced. They ask that the press respect their privacy and that of their family.”
The earl David Armstrong is the son of the late Princess Margaret and photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones.
A week ago, the Queen’s grandson Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn also revealed that they are going to divorce.
