Lira district has been named as the leading district in committing crime in the country.
Releasing the 2017 Annual crime report, the CID director Grace Akullo said out of the total 252,065 cases reported in 2017, more than 7000 are from Lira followed by Ntungamo, Mbarara and Gulu.
Akullo attributes the high crime rate in those four districts to the increased population and economic activities and the mixed nationalities of the people.
She meanwhile says in general cases of Homicides and child related crimes registered an increase while economic crimes and sex related crimes and breakings slightly dropped.
Akullo says majority of the death was caused by mob action; fire and shooting while in the economic related crime more than 900 cases were forgeries.
