A new report by Invisible Children shows an overall decline in the Lord’s Resistance Army rebel attacks and abductions in 2013.

It further says the LRA attacks are now brief, a development he attributes to defections, losing about 32 of the estimated 170 fighters.

According to the report, LRA violence in Congo declined, attacks dropped by 44% from about 200 in 2012 to slightly over 100 in 2013.

However, violence in the CAR increased with the large scale attacks and abductions mainly driven by civil strife in the country.

Releasing the report this morning, Grace Okot, the organization ambassador for East and Central Africa said strife was making it hard for the African Union, US and UPDF forces to pursue rebels which the LRA is taking advantage of.
