
The newly elected Amuru District Woman Member of Parliament is set to be sworn in on Tuesday. This is according to a letter from the Clerk to Parliament dated December 2nd.
Lucy Akello, who contested on a joint opposition interparty coalition emerged winner in the recently concluded Amuru Woman MP By-election after beating her rival Jane Frances Amongin Okilli, who contested on NRM ticket.
She garnered 7,420 votes beating her rival Okili, who got 6,701 votes.
The Amuru Woman MP seat fell vacant after Betty Bigombe, the former legislator resigned to take up a job with World Bank.
