Conservative party president John Ken Lukyamuzi has tasked the members of the 10th Parliament to move a motion to reverse the directive of president Museveni on the closure of the university.
Museveni directed for the closure of the university on the 1st of November following a sit down strike of lecturers demanding incentive arrears amounting to 39 billion
Addressing journalists in Kampala, Lukyamuzi says Parliament has not exercised their powers as stipulated in article 70(1) of the constitution where power are given to MPs to reverse some directives ordered by the president when they violates human rights.
He explains that MPs should pass a resolution to open Makerere immediately to enable the visiting committee to conduct a fair inquiry when the university is operating.
