Makerere University is by close of business today expected to have furnished the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) with a procurement file for the 2019 graduation gowns deal.
Last week PPDA gave the university a week’s ultimatum that expires today, to present the files after it failed to deliver all the gowns reportedly procured from China leaving students stranded at the last minute.
The PPDA director legal and investigations, UthmanSegawatells KFM that they had talks with university officials yesterday regarding the same and full report will be ready by 7th February 2020.
PPDAseeks to ascertain whether all the guidelines on local procurement were followed.
If Makerere University is found to have breached the rules, the issue will be forwarded to the university council for action, which could include terminating the suppliers’ contract and sourcing providers afresh.
