Makerere University is to set up a committee to investigate the circumstances that prompted Dr. Stella Nyanzi, a research fellow at the Institute of Social Research to strip.

Dr Nyanzi attracted media attention this morning when she staged a nude protest to allegedly express her discontent over the continued closure of her office by the Director of the Institute, Prof Mahmood Mamdani.

While addressing journalists this afternoon, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dumba Sentamu says action was uncalled for and has put the university in bad light.

Earlier the Ethics and Integrity minister Rev. Fr. Simon Lokodo said Dr Nyanzi’s actions were against the law and that she would be apprehended.

Speaking on KFM’s mid-morning show D-Hook, Lokodo said Dr. Nyanzi committed a crime by circulation her nude pictures on social media.

Lokodo says they will first establish her mental status before taking action.

While the police spokesperson Fred Enanga says they are consulting the Director of Public Prosecutions to ascertain whether she can be charged accordingly.

He told journalists earlier today that she faced charges relating to being a public nuisance, indecent exposure among other offences.

Dr.Stella Nyanzi, on the other hand says she will not apologize to anyone for what she did.

She also insists that she will not undertake any teaching assignments until her matter is sorted out.

Meanwhile calm had by this evening returned at the university after Dr. Nyanzi’s office was opened by Prof Edward Kirumira Principal College of Humanities.
