There have been no abductions in Uganda, minister Kutesa tells UN

The statement has been made by Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi while launching the action for transparency project at Wakiso district head quarters.

Mbabazi says while the government has put in place the necessary institutional and legal framework, fighting corruption requires patience

He however maintains that government is committed to fighting the vice calling on members of the public to support all government efforts against corruption.

The aim of the project and awareness campaign is to fight corruption and mismanagement of public funding for schools and health centres through enhanced citizens participation in monitoring of budgets.

The project funded by the Swedish government is being implemented by local partners including transparency international, and Uganda Media development Foundation among others.
