The police chief has resolved to block former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi’ planned consultative meetings.

In a statement issued this afternoon, Gen Kale Kayihura cites loopholes in his letter that was written by Mbabazi to the Attorney General and Electoral Commission.

The Attorney General had earlier given his opinion clearing Mbabazi to conduct his meetings as enshrined in the Presidential Elections Act.

However, the statement from the police chief indicated that Mbabazi did not specify whether he was contesting as NRM or independent candidate so the police can not grant him protection since NRM has not dully elected it’s flag bearer.
