Truck drivers in Mbale town have declined to ferry president Yoweri Museveni’s supporters to various campaign venues.
The drivers under the Mbale Truck Drivers Association says they rejected the requests from the district authorities, who wanted to hire their trucks to ferry supporters over a wide range of issues that the government has failed to address.
Led by one Shaban Kitende, the drivers held a peaceful demonstration this morning saying they are tired of being used and dumped.
Kitende singled out the alleged giveaway of Lorry Park that was sold to unidentified investor and the local authoritites have not been of help.
When contacted however, the Mbale RDC Mr.James Shilaku, said the issues of the president’s visit was being handled by NRM leadership at the district.
