The agreement with Saudi Arabia, the most popular destination for migrant workers, was temporarily suspended on December 23, 2022.

Speaking to KFM, the executive director of Migrant Workers Voice Network, Abdallah Kayonde, said much as the government held a meeting with stakeholders late December, the proposals made were not conclusive since they were not given enough time.

Kayonde demands that the new agreement caters for increased salaries of migrant workers and an approved worker’s administrative unit among others.
