The Member of Parliament for Ayivu County Bernard Atiku who was involved in a squabble with his Arua Municipality counterpart Ibrahim Abiriga has described yesterday’s incident as a climax of a long standing dispute.
Speaking to media at parliament today, Mr. Atiku said he has had a long standing dispute with Abiriga since 2006 and what happened yesterday was a result of endless insults he has always received from his fellow legislator.
He says he intends to involve the Speaker of Parliament to reign in on the matter.
The dramatic incident started when Abiriga reportedly accused Atiku of bribing youth in Arua to denounce the Minister of State for Investment and Privatization Evelyn Anite and other West Nile MPs because of their pronounced support for lifting of the age limit cap under Article 102 (b) of the Constitution.
Mr.Abiriga is yet to speak out on the matter.
