Makindye General Court martial has pushed the hearing of treachery charges against Nakawa Municipality MP Michael Kabaziguruka and 25 others to 18th January 2017.

The case had been scheduled for yesterday but court has already broken off for the festive season that ends at the beginning of January 2017.

According to the General Court Martial Registrar Major John Bizimana, all the cases that were scheduled to be heard yesterday have been pushed to January.

During his last appearance in at the army court, Kabaziguruka through his lawyer Medard Ssegona asked that his trial be halted until the matter he filed before the Constitutional Court challenging this court’s powers to try civilians is disposed of.

However, the Judge Advocate Lt Col Gideon Katinda advised Kabaziguruka to seek an interim order from the Constitutional Court halting this trial.

Kabaziguruka and 25 others including UPDF soldiers allegedly plotted in Kampala, Wakiso and Luweero districts, to overthrow the government by force of arms.
