High Court in Kampala is today expected to start hearing an application by Rubaga South voter seeking permission to file an election petition against the area MP Kato Lubwama on grounds of lack of requisite academic qualifications.

Last week the same court dismissed an application to compel Makerere University to prove the authenticity of Lubwama’s academic documents.

The judge ruled that it’s not necessary at this stage to add Makerere University as a party to an application that seeks permission to file an election petition out of the stipulated time frame and advised applicant Habib Buwembo to wait for the outcome of this application.

In this application Buwembo wants orders from the High court to extend the time within which he can file an election petition challenging Lubwamaa’s academic papers.

The hearing is to kick off this morning before Justice Margaret Oguli Oumo.
