Members of Parliament have strongly criticized Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga over hesitation to call a special seating for debate on the oil sector.

Over 180 MPs have signed the petition for the recall of the house, to discuss the controversial oil agreements.

The MPs who held a meeting were angry to note that the speaker has called the house to convene on 25th October, ignoring their petition.

The members accused the Speaker of breaching a constitutional requirement to recall the house within 21 days after receiving the petition.

The Kampala woman MP Nabilah Nagayi moved a motion for the members to issue an ultimatum for the speaker to call the house.

The MPs resolved that if the speaker still ignored their call, they would hold a meeting in the Parliamentary chamber to discuss the oil sector whether she is there or not as Hon Hamson Obua elaborates.

Speaker Kadaga earlier indicated that the MPs had not clearly explained why it was necessary to call the special seating.
