Makerere University teaching staff has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the university council to have their incentive arrears cleared.
The chairperson of Makerere University Academic Staff Association Muhammad Kiguddu says the teaching staff demands over Sh2 billion in arrears for incentives dating way back to July 2016.
He adds that they also want updates about the harmonization of their salaries with those of their counterparts in other public universities.
Dr Kiggundu says some lecturers with similar qualifications in other public universities are paid higher that the lecturers at Makerere, which is unfair.
Meanwhile, the University Council is yet to an official response to the lecturers concerns.
