In a letter dated 16th August, addressed to the Chairman of the University Council Prof Venasius Baryamureeba, the IGG says she received complaints that prof Balunywa spends most of his time on questionable trips abroad at the expense of the university.

Prof Balunywa is also accused of mismanaging the staff payroll leading to delayed payment of salaries.
Other irregularities pointed out by the IGG include the indefinite suspension of staff promotions without involving the university council.

The spokesperson of the university Mr.Peter Odoki has confirmed receipt of the letter and says Prof. Balunywa has written to the University Council about the allegations.
