The Makerere University has raised over 190 M shillings from the recent Makerere run.

The MakRUN 2017 held on 14th May was aimed at raising awareness for the Makerere University Endowment Fund and to lay foundation for resource mobilization and investment in the University. .

Unveiling the collection, chairperson of the fund Dr Martin Aliker said 150 M shillings of this was in cash with the rest being in pledges.

He reveals that the run is to become annual to be able to raise more funds.

Speaking at the same press conference, Ambassador Edith Ssempebwa a board member said more awareness is to be created, with chapters to be created in neighboring countries.

The Fundraising efforts for the 15 bn initial project of construction of a student’s centre will be through the alumni, well-wishers, development partners and commercial investments.
