Over 4,000 students of Makerere University Business School face may not graduate come 21st February 2017 at Makerere University over the failure by its management to remit the functional fees amounting to Shs4bn to the main campus.
According to Makerere Bursar, Augustine Tamale the business school has failed to remit student’s functional fees for the past three years explaining that each Ugandan/East African student from this institution is supposed to pay Shs 420,000, while international students pay Shs1,027,500 but MUBs is yet to comply.
He explains that out of the over 6bn MUBs was supposed to pay, only Shs 1.4bn has been cleared.
Tamale now says students from this institution will not graduate if MUBs does not remit the money to Makerere University Council bank account as soon as possible.
However, when contacted, the spokesperson of MUBs Peter Odoki says they do not owe Makerere any money.
