The electoral commission is today set to commence nomination of candidates contesting for existing positions in the forthcoming by elections at local government councils.

The two day nomination exercises take place at the respective district headquarters in over 110 districts across the country.

Speaking to Kfm the commission’s chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama calls on political parties and their candidates to ensure they observe the set nomination guidelines and SOPs against Covid 19.

He says the commission will not entertain any processions and public campaigns.

Candidates’ campaign meetings will be conducted 2nd to 14th December  ahead of Polling of Councilors representing Special Interest Groups (SIGs) on Wednesday 15th December 2021 and the District Chairperson, Kayunga, and other Local Government Councils on 16th December 2021, at all polling stations in the affected electoral areas.
