The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development says Usher Owere Wilson remains the Chairman-General of the National Organisation of Trade Unions (NOTU), until the registrar general of trade unions pronounces himself on the outcome of the November 15 election that ousted him out of office.

In a meeting held last evening, David Kibenge, the permanent secretary of the gender ministry said that the ministry cannot recognize any group until the registrar general makes a decision on the same.

The meeting called to reconcile the two warring factions was however boycotted by the group led by Stephen Mugole who was last week voted as the acting Chairman-General.

Last week, a total of 24 out of 34 workers’ unions under NOTU passed a vote of no confidence in Usher Wilson Owere as the body’s chairman-general over alleged incompetence and dictatorship.
