President Yoweri Museveni says he is not about to stop giving out money to those in need.

The president has in the recent past faced criticism from especially sections of the opposition for giving cash to local entrepreneurs especially within Kampala.

While presiding over the country’s 54th independence anniversary yesterday, the president defended his actions saying he is reaching out to the real beneficiaries of government support as one way of reducing corruption.

He explained that the money he is giving out is to help these entrepreneurs add value to their products to match with international standards.

The president cited some of the giveaways including 115 welding machines he gave to artisans in the Kampala suburb of Katwe. He cited other groups that have benefited as Carpenters in Nsambya, and produce dealers adding that he will be giving out more support.
