The electoral commission has challenged politicians seeking leadership at various levels to champion the fight against covid-19.
This comes as the commission commences a two day nomination exercise for presidential aspirants contesting in the 2021 polls.
The electoral commission’s acting secretary Leonard Mulekwa says as the aspirants come for nomination, they should ensure strict adherence to the set SOPs and guidelines put in place to check spread of covid-19.
President Museveni, who was the first presidential candidate to be nominated also called upon Ugandans to continue adhering to the COVID-19 SOPs because the virus has killed many Ugandans.
”Here I want to emphasize the safety of Ugandans. I have not checked but the last time I checked, 110 Ugandans had died,” Museveni said.
Today, Yoweri Museveni, ANT’s Maj Gen Mugisha Munt and Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde and Independents John Katumba and Nancy Kalembe will be nominated at the Kyambogo sports grounds.
