The High court in Kampala has sentenced a primary school teacher George Makande to a seven years imprisonment term at Luzira prison after finding him guilty of sodomising an 11 year old pupil.

Presiding judge Joseph Murangira found Makadde guilty of aggravated defilement after prosecution proved all the 3 ingredients of this offence.

While sentencing Makande Justice Murangira noted that Makande’s actions of committing a Biblical and cultural crime cast the teacher’s profession to shame.

However the judge took into consideration the 3 years Makande has spent on remand and deducted it from the ten years imprisonment term to make seven years.

Evidence before court  shows  that Makadde who used to double as a Dormitory master at Mwebaze Nursery and primary school in Kasangati  between March and April 2014 repeatedly   had canal knowledge of  his primary five  pupil whenever   his colleagues would go to line up for supper and to do co-curricular activities.

It’s the victim’s mother who spotted her Son on visitation day walking with difficulty and reported the matter to the head teacher, hence Makande’s arrest.
