Rugunda was last evening responding to concerns of sky rocketing sugar prices in the country raised by Kitagwenda County MP Agaba Abbas during the Prime Minister’s Question Time.

Agaba wants government to restrain retail and wholesale traders from increasing sugar prices beyond 5000 shillings as recently directed by the Minister of Trade Amelia Kyambadde.

However, Dr Rugunda says, that the country’s economy is predetermined by market forces of demand and supply despite government wish to maintain commodities at affordable prices.
