The fallen West Buganda diocese bishop Rev. Godfrey Makumbi has been laid to rest at Kako Cathedral in Masaka district.

Masaka Diocese Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa has eulogized the fallen Bishop at a requiem mass at St Paul’s Cathedral at Kako Masaka district.

Bishop Kagwa has plauded Bishop Makumbi’s for his efforts to unite the different religious denominations in the region saying that he has left a big challenge for the religious leader to get faithful from different regions united.

Bishop Makumbi died on Sunday at 52 years after battling with throat cancer for several weeks at the Cancer Institute at Mulago Kampala.

The Kabaka’s message to the mourners has been delivered by the Buganda Information Minister Denis Walusimbi Ssengendo.

He also delivered message from Buganda Premier Charles Peter Mayiga who apologized for not making it to the burial of the fallen bishop who has served the diocese diligently.

Masaka Resident District Commissioner Lenos Ngopek delivered the president’s message in which he hailed Bishop Makumbi for working tirelessly to improve the standard of living for faithful.

President Yoweri Museveni gave out Five million shillings condolence fees to the family.

The Vice President Edward Kiwanuka’s message has also been given by his political assistant Vincent Musubire

The burial has been attended by Pokino Vincent Mayiga, Gen David Ssejusa, Masaka Member of Parliament Freda Mubanda Luwero Legislator Brenda Nabukenya, Hon Medard LubegaSegona, Lubaga Municipality Mayor, Juliet Naboosa Ssebugwawo Masaka Region District chairpersons and thousands of mourners among other people.

Meanwhile The Arch Bishop Stanley Ntagali has appointed the Central Buganda Bishop the Rt. Rev Jackson Matovu to take care of west Buganda diocese as the Christians go through the right process of getting another bishop
