According to the Savannah Region Police Spokesperson Lameck kigozi, the driver of the bus registration number UAS 566U lost control and overturned, injuring several people, five of them critically.

Kigozi says the presumed cause of the accident is sleep driving and overspeeding.

He adds that he police are now hunting for the driver who escaped after the accident.

This comes barely two months after a bus accident claimed 8 lives, while an earlier one still in Nakasongo injured 28 students of St Teresa Secondary School in Masindi.

Earlier this morning in separate accident, one person died on the spot and another was injured at Mabira forest along the Kampala-Jinja highway.

The accident involved a Toyota Canter registration number UAN 518A that rammed into a trailer registration number ZE 4687 that was heading to Jinja.

Traffic flow along Jinja road is currently paralyzed as traffic police from Lugazi and Najjembe police stations try to clear wreckage from the accident scene.

According to an eye witness Robert Ssengo the accident is suspected to have resulted from poor visibility during the early morning down pour.
