Police in Kasanda district have in custody a 38 year old man held for questioning into allegations that he yesterday murdered his 60 year old father over a coffee harvest.
According to ASP Racheal Kawala,the Wamala region police spokesperson, yesterday evening at Myazi police station, in Kyuma Kigalama B Subcounty, a concerned resident reported the demise of Enoc Senyonjo from the same area who was allegedly murdered by his biological son.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspect gained entry into Senyonjo’s house by breaking through an iron sheet the deceased had used to shut the window.
The peasant farmer was reportedly hit on the head to death with an axe that was found next to a broken wall in his apartment.
Police have established the motive as intent to steal coffee and exhibits to include an axe, a torch, and coffee harvest among others were recovered.
In the meantime, the witnesses’ statements are being recorded as inquires into the homicide continue.
