3.2 million tests will be required in case there is a surge in the number of coronavirus cases in Uganda.
This has been revealed by the health minister, Dr Ruth Aceng at a time when the country is faced with a shortage of essential test kits for the virus.
Currently, there is a global shortage of test kits and the release to national governments is being rationed through the United Nations consortium.
According to Dr Aceng, the country currently has adequate tests to run for only two weeks.
She, however, says they have placed several orders to make the test kits available and an order of 360,000 tests has been made recently.
