Tooro Kingdom demands for “Ebyeitu”

The Tooro Kingdom has petitioned Parliament, seeking for the return of their properties.

Under their umbrella group, Amacumu n’Ebitara bya Rukirabasaija, meaning the King’s Spears and Swords, the subjects trekked for four days from Fort Portal to Parliament, demanding that the Central government makes good of its demands.

One of the leaders, Patrick Kasagama says other kingdoms have had their properties returned, including Buganda, hence need for royalties and sub county headquarters to be given back to the kingdom.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga acknowledged the petition, saying it will be pursued.

Earlier, a  group of about 120 Tooro youth who were trekking from Fort portal to Kampala was intercepted by the police.

The group of  embarked on the mission on Saturday demanding for the return of the kingdoms property confiscated in 1966.
