The national Environment management Authority has expressed commitment to protecting the country’s wetlands.

This comes as government reveals plans to cancel all land titles in wetlands issued after 1995.

Speaking to Kfm the Authority’s public relations officer Naomi Karekaho says NEMA is not responsible for issuing land titles anywhere with its mandate limited to wetland permits and Environmental impact assessments licenses.

Karekaho says however that before these are issued, there are conditions that must be fulfilled, failure of which could lead to cancellation.
