Ugandan Muslims are asking the Electoral Commission to choose the 2016 polling days carefully and ensure they do not coincide with Muslim holidays like has been the case previously.
The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) is concerned that scheduling elections on Fridays or Idd days, deprives Muslims of their fundamental rights to participate in voting.
The Deputy Imam Sheikh Imran Ssali says fixing elections on Friday interferes with the Juma prayers which are very important to Muslims.
He has advised the concerned authorities to choose the other weekdays since they are more convenient to all.
