Uganda Revenue Authority has finally spoken out on the allegations that the Shs.6 billion presidential handshake money was drawn from the Petroleum Fund under the ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.
Mbarara Municipality MP Michael Tusiime had alleged earlier that the money shared by the 42 government officials after Uganda won the tax gains case against Heritage Oil Company was diverted from the Fund.
However, according to the Commissioner Civil Litigation Ali Ssekatawa, the Fund has a total of Sh1.7 trillion and it is untouched.
Ssekatawa was appearing before parliament’s committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises that is investigating circumstances under which Shs. 6 billion was shared by government officials.
