Commercial Court has summoned youth MP Central Babirye Sarah Kityo to respond to a case filed against her by city businessman Mutyaba David over failure to pay 80 million shillings.

According the summons signed by Court’s registrar Thaddeus Opiseni, the MP is given only 10 days within which to defend herself before Justice David Wangutsi set the case for hearing.

If she fails, Mutyaba may proceed with the case and Court may pass verdict in her absence.

The plaintiff [Mutyaba] claims that in September 2015 entered into a memorandum of understanding with Babirye in which he advanced a loan 250 million shillings to her to facilitate her campaigns and promised to refund the money in question as soon as possible.

Evidence before Court shows that Babirye paid 170 million shillings leaving a balance of 80 million shilling which she has failed to pay despite several demands and remainders.

Mutyaba wants Court to compel the MP to pay back his money and also pay costs of the suit.
