The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has said that there is no budget for the 2024 National Housing and Population Census (NHPC) mop-up exercise.

Over the weekend, UBOS announced an extension of the enumeration exercise that was to end on Sunday May 19th to May 25th 2024 for enumerators to complete their assignments in areas where the exercise started late.

UBOS also said that enumerators will not be paid for these extra days.

Each enumerator is to be paid shs500,000 for the ten days of work as stipulated in their contracts upon returning the tablets used, and their supervisors will be paid Shs 600,000.

Addressing journalists at the police headquarters in Naguru, Godfrey Nabongo, the UBOS deputy executive director said the areas where enumerators started  four days after the official kick-off date of May 10th include the Greater Kampala Metropolitan, the districts of Kassanda and Mubende as well as Karamoja sub region.

He has also revealed that by mid-night May 19th 2024, about 10.4million households had been enumerated, representing 98% of the total number of projected households.
