The Anglican Church in Lira district has resolved not to allow drunkards to attend service starting next Sunday.

This announcement was made by Rev Tonny Mike Okello of All Saints Obanga pe wany after dozens of Christians turned up for Sunday Prayers Drunk.

The priest says the smell of the alcohol is not only an embarrassment but also encourages immorality in the church.

Rev Okello says it is better for those who are drunk to stay home and attend service when they sober up.

During yesterday’s service nearly a quarter of the congregation reportedly went to attend the first service at the church while drunk.

This greatly inconvenienced other faithful who chose to walk out before the sermon was delivered.
