No Water For Middle Income Status

Reporter | October 24, 2016

The Ministry of Water and Environment does not have adequate water to deliver the country to the middle income status.

Speaking at an international conference on water stewardship held in Munyonyo today, state minister for environment Dr. Mary Gorretti Kitutu has expressed concern over the continued pollution of water bodies like Lake Victoria.

She says Uganda needs about 55bn cubic meters by 2020 to be able to sustain the middle income status but has only 37bn cubic meters at the moment.

The conference has attracted participants from over 8 countries across the African continent.
