The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) MPS are today expected to meet President Museveni at State House Entebbe.

According to the Government Chief Whip and the chairperson of the NRM parliamentary caucus, Hamson Obua, the MPS will, among other things; discuss the Anti homosexuality Bill, 2023.

The Bill passed by Parliament last month introduces tough penalties for same-sex activities including; death for aggravated homosexuality, as well as imprisonment of up to 20 years for acts of homosexuality, and promoting the vice.

The president has been put under pressure by local and international rights groups including the US not to assent to the Bill.

The Attorney General has also written to the president advising him on how to deal with the contentious Bill.

Opposition MPs have since criticized the intention of the NRM MPs to discuss a Bill already passed by parliament.
