NUP dominates Masaka Division elections

The National Unity Platform (NUP) candidates have been announced as the winners of the two divisions in Masaka city.
Mulindwa Micheal Nakumusana  of NUP emerged the winner of Nyendo –Mukungwe division after polling 8357 beating ruling National resistance movement Ntale Godfrey who got 2254, Denis lukanga Majwala of Democratic party  scored 1198 and independent  Gerald Kawuma collected 6699 and FDC’s James Mbabali Lumbuye got 145 votes and independent Andrew Matovu Kabulassoke got 6353.
In the same way,  the Masaka city returning officer Sam Agaba announced NUP’s Steven Lukyamuzi as the winner of Kimanya Kabonera division race who collected 9163 votes beating National resistance Movements’ Hamidu  Bukenya  who scored 4308, DP’s  Dick Muwanga got 1830 votes, FDC’s Jude  Kalule got 143 votes and independent Raymond Ssebugwawo got 97 votes.
Michael Mulindwa pledged to use his experience in local council leadership  promising voters good leadership that will improve service delivery ranging from a clean division to protection of environment among other services.
Steven Lukyamuzi the Kimanya -Kabonera division mayor elect thanked voters for trusting him to lead the division saying that he is going to ensure that the places that were annexed to Masaka move at the same pace with Masaka city.
He says that he is going to work with the technical staff to plan for these places so that they can develop at the same pace and fit in the city status.
