Commandant Kampala Metropolitan Region

The Police have arrested one person in connection with the fire that gutted Naggalabi cultural site in Buddo Wakiso district.

The Police Commander Kampala metropolitan area Andrew Kawesi says the man identified as Kasigwa Kizito a resident of Nakawuka is being interrogated for any clues to the cause of the fire.

The Buganda Kingdom spokesman, Charles Peter Mayigga says the site is very important in the Buganda culture as it is used for coronation ceremonies.

The House that was razed is called Bwanika- where the actual coronation of the Kabaka is done.

This comes at a time when the Bugnda kingdom has just marked 19 years since the coronation of Kabaka Ronald muwenda Mutebi II at the same site.

This is the second cultural site to be gutted by fire after the Kasubi tombs two years ago.

The area Member of Parliament Medard Lubega Seggona has regretted the incident and added voice to those calling for the release of the reports on previous fires like the Kasubi tombs fire;
