By Moses Kyeyune.

Parliament has directed the Information and Communication ministry to explain the ban on airtime scratch-cards.

The directive by the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga was prompted by  concerns raised by Busiki County MP Paul Akamba.

The lawmaker convinced the Speaker that with the deadline first approaching, many locals risk suffering in the darkness without communication given that many cannot buy airtime from Mobile Money.

Kadaga has now asked the ICT Minister Frank Tumwebaze to explain to the House next week.

The Uganda Communications commission announced that airtime scratch cards would be no more in the month of August after giving them a deadline of 31st July.
