Hundreds of passengers are seen stranded by the road side after the Entebbe-Kampala highway was closed till Friday to allow foreign dignitaries’ access to the city with ease.
The police have now advised private motorists to use alternative routes.
According to Dr. Stephen Kasiima, the head of traffic police, the diversions seek to avoid any security breach like the one of 2011.
He says Kisubi motorists will be diverted to Ssisa from where they will connect to Kampala through Nateete.
From Lweza, motorists are diverted to Kitebi-Kabuusu to join the City Center through Rubaga.
While motorists from Makindye, Busabala and Kigo are to access the city center through Ndejje and connect to Nsambya.
More heads of state are expected to arrive in the country ahead of tomorrow’s swearing in ceremony.
According to the foreign affairs ministry, those expected today are John Pombe Magufuli of Tanzania, Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, Teodoro Obiang Ngwema of Equatoria Guine, South Africa’s Jacob Zuma, Muhamadou Issoufou of Niger and Hage Geingob of Namibia.
First to arrive yesterday, were King Leslie III of Lesotho and Swaziland premier Barnabas Dlamini.
